Have we got a treat for you all today! We were blown away with the response to our blog ‘The Making of Megan Gilbride’s Bespoke Wedding Dress’and so many of you wanted to see more of Megan & Jamie’s special day. From getting ready through to end of the night dancing we’ve got everything covered! Grab yourself a cup of tea and settle in for plenty of inspiration from our gorgeous real bride Megan.

The Dress

You can read all about Megan’s Bespoke Wedding Dress hereIt was such a special journey to embark on together and the results were even better than we had imagined. This collaborative design between Andrea & Megan was brought to life in our London studio by our amazing in-house team. A silk satin bias cut design with low back, cross straps and a dramatic train paired perfectly with our aptly named Meaghan Veil

We were completely lost for words when we received Megan’s photos from their special day. The dress just came to life in the natural setting and it is so wonderful to see how relaxed and at ease Megan felt in her dress. A really special moment for us all!

“One of the reasons I wanted to work with Andrea and her team was down to Andrea’s business values – a small, local, and independent in-house team of designers and seamstresses, working with natural, sustainably sourced silks. A slow and considered approach to an otherwise fast paced industry, Andrea and her team were a breath of fresh air.”

We are so excited that Megan’s dress Poppy will be available to try and purchase in the AH Showroom from Mid October!

Getting Ready

Megan spent the morning of her wedding getting ready with family and close friends wearing Andrea Hawkes Silk Summer Set PJ’s which we personalised with Megan’s Initials. The perfect way to start your day in luxury whilst still feeling incredibly comfortable and at ease.

We completely adored Megan’s make up by Gabby a natural but elevated look that worked beautifully with Megan’s silk wedding dress. Megan is so talented and opted to style her own hair, the soft waves looked so effortless and worked beautifully with Megan’s stunning Meaghan Veil & gorgeous headpiece by Pretty Wild

Shoes & Accessories

Megan chose a gorgeous pair ofLoeffler Randall pleated bow block heels, so delicate and feminine. Not too high and perfect for dancing on grass! Megan styled her AH design with jewels from Alighieri, we adore the textural interest and beautiful pearls which were a perfect match for Megan’s silk satin dress.

The Vibe

Having spent lots of time with Megan throughout her dress journey we really got to know what was important to Megan & Jamie on their wedding day. They stayed true to themselves and incorporated elements that felt right for them. A relaxed, festival style wedding which would ensure a welcoming environment for their guests. A day full of laughter, celebration, food and good company! What more could you ask for!?

“We both agreed that what we truly wanted was something as small, intimate, and chilled as possible”

The Venue

Megan & Jamie’s day was celebrated in the beautiful grounds of a Lulu’s incredible home. Lulu is a close friend of Megan’s and it was clear that this space felt like the perfect spot to bring their loved ones together to celebrate and feel at home. A gorgeous Tipi was set up alongside food trucks and a bar to create that real festival feel!

Having carried our their legal ceremony prior to this day it meant Megan’s Best Friend and Maid of Honour could officiate the ceremony! Such a wonderful idea to have someone who knows you so well to bring the magic and a personal touch.

Food

Food is such an exciting part of any wedding day and we just love how Megan & Jamie decided support local business by hiring food trucks from their favourite restaurants. Such a great idea to instantly create a relaxed and playful reception!

Both Local suppliers, ‘Two Old Goats’ served up delicious, healthy salads topped with Halloumi, Prawns or Sweet Potato Falafals (Yum!) whilst ‘Santina’s Wood Fired Pizza’ cooked up delightful sourdough pizzas (there was even pineapple involved, which we’re totally here for!)

The Cake!

Instead of opting for a traditional wedding cake, Meagan and Jamie chose Bakes instead! At AH we are HUGE fans of the Great British Bake-Off and were so excited to see Frances Quinns delightful tower of peanut butter bourbon brownies and miso flapjacks. Dreamy! Doubling up as dessert for their guests, this inventive idea worked perfectly.

Flowers

Continuing the theme of using local suppliers Megan’s flowers were created by Bunches & Co. Megan opted for wild flowers with pink and green tones.

“My bouquet was a wildflower theme, again to fit in with the wild flower meadows within the garden and included a faux red poppy at the back (my nan’s favourite flower).”
