With the rise of smaller civil ceremonies, split events and micro weddings we wanted to create a curated edit of more informal wedding dresses that would be perfect for an intimate affair. This year we have met with so many wonderful brides who have been looking for simple elegant wedding dresses that translate and feel right in a smaller venue with close family and friends. When finding an outfit for a civil ceremony, micro wedding or party you may want to try pieces that feel lighter and more manageable to wear. That’s why you won’t find any long trains or big full skirts in our civil ceremony edit. All of our pieces have been adapted and created to be both practical and special to wear.
For those of you who favour a more tailored design our Audrey dress and jacket combination is going to be the perfect choice. With a nod to 60’s design, Audrey is a playful and adaptable piece that would be the ideal option for a civil ceremony followed by lunch with your close friends and family.
When curating this collection one dress really came to mind and that was our Wallace dress. The versatility of this design is what’s so wonderful about it. By making it into a midi length wedding dress the overall look and feel of the dress instantly becomes more relaxed and functional for a smaller wedding or party. The hand made button down detailing is what really makes this dress a statement piece, a unique take on a civil wedding dress that will be a dream to wear.
It wouldn’t be an AH civil ceremony edit without a bias cut shape. From day one we have included a bias shape in all of our collections due to it’s timeless, classic feel. This shorter champagne silk adaption of our new Amelie dress flows in a relaxed and elegant way. The beauty of this style is that it can be worn with any of our over tops allowing you to personalise it to your own style. We love how much movement a bias cut creates making it a great option if you plan to switch your look up for the evening and dancing.
Due to the less traditional nature of civil ceremonies we wanted to incorporate a piece that felt special but also an extension of our day to day wardrobes. A soft silk relaxed boat neckline has always been a go to for many of our brides, an understated and elegant look. We love that this shape has a familiarity to it and we know so many of our brides will instantly feel at ease in this option. There has always been a relaxed element to our two piece designs and this stems from the blousing of the top tucked into a skirt. There is something very effortless and beautiful about this small detail. We have created this dress with a focal point on the bloused, soft fit around the waist. A casual shape that is incredibly comfortable to wear. Paired with a playful skirt that moves beautifully!
Let’s not forget the added benefits of our shorter designs! We absolutely love that they could be worn again, having shortened many of brides designs in the past we know this is a fantastic option for any future events or special occasions. With sustainability at the forefront of a lot of our minds I am sure you can all agree, plus how great would it be to wear your wedding dress more than once!
Often bridal shoes go a little unnoticed with floor length gowns but with our shorter styles you can really choose a fabulous pair to show off. We absolutely love Emmy London and why not opt for a colour, a bold red or forest green would be a striking option to complete the look.
