A huge congratulations on your engagement! We know wedding planning can feel a little overwhelming. It can sometimes be hard to know where to start and what time frames to work to. We wanted to give you all the information you need when starting your wedding dress search with AH. Hopefully this will help you gain a better understanding of lead times and when to choose your wedding dress!

When should I book my First Wedding Dress Appointment?

If your wedding is 2023 now is the time to start your wedding dress search. We love to meet with our brides 8-12 months in advance of their wedding date for an initial appointment to try designs, discuss fabrics and work out the best service for you. The reason we like to see you a year ahead is to make sure you have a relaxing, stress free timescale that also allows our team to give you a wonderful dress making experience. We never want our brides to feel rushed or under pressure.

Hopefully we find the one straight away at your first appointment but you may also need a little time to think about your options and revisit us for a 2nd appointment. A 2nd try on will often take place 1-5 weeks after your first appointment, depending on your schedule and the time you personally need to make your decision.

When should I place an order for my Wedding Dress

Once you have visited our London showroom and tried on your favourites dresses you will know when the time is right to commit to your dress. Whether it’s one of our collection designs, a customised design or a bespoke piece you will feel incredibly excited and ready to move forwards to the next stage.

Ideally we like to receive your confirmed order 8-10months in advance of your wedding day. By choosing your dress around this timescale it allows our team to plan ahead and pre-book your fittings in with our team. We will start ordering your fabrics, booking in dates for each of your dress fittings and conversing on the details of your design. 2023 is set to be an extremely exciting and busy year for weddings so if you can it is best to place your order as soon as you are ready.

When do my wedding dress fittings take Place?

You have now confirmed your wedding dress, but what are the next steps? One of our stylists will be in touch to schedule in your fitting dates with our team. It’s important for you and for us to have a nicely spaced out schedule to work to. If your dress is made to measure or standard size, we will usually start fittings 6 months prior to your wedding day. You will have 3-5 fittings spaced out over this time.

For our bespoke brides we will start this process 6-8 months prior to your wedding day as there will be additional design meetings and fittings for you to attend.
