Styling your Wedding Dress for an Autumn Wedding

It’s no secret that we LOVE an Autumn wedding here at AH so we wanted to share some styling tips alongside a few of our favourite brands and designers. Giving you plenty of inspiration on how to style up your AH dress for a warm, romantic and cosy Autumn Wedding!

Rust Tones

The colours that instantly come to mind when we think of Autumn are Rusts, Burnt Oranges and Golds. Rich, warm and inviting tones that work so so beautifully with our off white silk designs. This mood-board takes inspiration from this gorgeous bouquet by Kado Studio and is for any bride who loves sheer layering and a soft romantic feel.

Our Thais dress from our Amaryllis Collection is the perfect dress for an Autumn wedding. This design is actually formed of two pieces. A stunning silk satin slip with a delicate silk chiffon overlay. The layered effect adds a light coverage and a feminine take on an Autumn Wedding dress. If you find solid sleeves a little heavy this idea will be perfect for you.

Now lets talk about THOSE Loeffler Randall pleated block heels! We are in love with this Terracotta shade, such a warm colour that will tie in with the time of year and fall of the leaves.

An accessory that we don’t often talk about is Scent. It’s really lovely to find a new scent that you love for your wedding day. Something that you can wear in the future that will bring back memories and remind you of your special day. Just a short walk from our Islington Showroom you will fine Le Labo, situated on Cross Street. Their scents are a dream to wear but we are particularly drawn to Mousse De Chene for an Autumn vibe. With notes of Pachouli, Cinnamon & Pink Pepper this scent will leave you feeling relaxed and at ease on your wedding day.

Moving onto Jewellery, we absolutely love the idea of gold accents to compliment the rust tones and elevate our silk designs. Earrings are a beautiful way to really showcase your personality. Opt for something unique with an irregular shape like these stunning Selva Oscura Hoops from Alighieri.

Burgundy Tones

If rust tones are not quite your vibe why not look to rich burgundies, deep reds and purples to create a dramatic and bold colour palette. The contrast of these dark colours against our silk dresses is just a dream!

Taking inspiration from our stunning real bride Fiona and the beautiful florals at their wedding by Gloam we’ve put together a mood board that will take your AH dress to the next level!

Our Madison Dress from our Amaryllis Collection is such a gorgeous design for an Autumn Wedding. It has a structured, boned bodice with corset seam detail and the prettiest flutter sleeves. The skirt on Madison makes a real statement, made from natural matte silk this a-line shape has a centre front godet with silk chiffon insert, we just love the textural interest this creates. It’s got a beautiful weight to it and feels appropriate for an Autumn wedding.

When it comes to pairing shoes with Madison and our Matte silk designs we absolutely love Velvet. It’s a luxe fabric that adds another dimension to our designs. The Hetty Bordo by Harriet Wilde is a real statement block heel with velvet ties, create a bow for added drama!

To keep hold of your essentials on your wedding day we love the idea of a satin rope bag, this Champagne Hive bag from D.A.Y Boutique is the perfect addition to your bridal look. Your bridesmaids will also look great with this bag whilst looking after it during your ceremony.

Madison has a gorgeous open neckline that looks stunning with earrings but why not mix things up and choose a necklace instead? This double gold chain design with Baroque Pearl from Monica Vinader will completely transform the look of your dress, wear for the whole day or pop it on for the party!

Green Tones

Autumn is such a wonderful time to be around nature, the colours changing at this time provide ample inspiration. Green is a colour that works all year round but in Autumn you can look to darker greens with lots of depth to really enhance your surroundings and your wedding dress.

An Autumn wedding doesn’t mean sleeves are a must! If your wedding is inside chances are it’s going to be warmed with cosy fires, heating and the general excitement of your day. We absolutely love this silk Dupion fabric that makes up our Honey dress from Amaryllis, it’s got a gorgeous papery texture that creates volume and allows us to add playful elements such as pleating and pockets. This dress would be stunning for an Autumn wedding, is had a delicate pearly sheen that works beautifully with olive green shades.

A modern, minimal structured style like this works beautifully with statement silk hair bow, now an accessory we make here at AH using offcuts from our silk dresses. It’s the perfect way to utilise this fabric to create a matching bow for your dress. If a hair bow is not your thing, why not add a Bow to the back of your dress for an added element of fun?

I think you will all know by now that we adore Emmy London for their stunning shoes. They have the best colour choices and are incredibly comfortable to wear. We love the olive green tone of these Claudia heels for a peek of colour under your dress. Tie this in with greenery in your florals and you will create a look that feels connected to nature.

The subtle sheen of our Honey dress pairs well with Pearls, whether that be a necklace, bracelet or these gorgeous ceramic and pearl earrings by Completed Works

Our one piece of advise when it comes to planning an Autumn wedding is to not be afraid of colour, you can opt for muted shades if that feels more you but it’s a wonderful time of year to embrace the changes in nature and really connect with those changing colours.
